A Night of Progress and New Beginnings
On the evening of July 25, 2024, the PtSA Western Cape Network Event brought together industry professionals for an evening of connection, reflection, and forward movement. The event was highlighted by the selection of new members for the Western Cape Executive Committee (Exco), a presentation by Chris Conradie, and exciting updates within PtSA.
Exco Members Selection
The evening saw the reaffirmation of leadership within the Western Cape Exco, with several key members continuing their roles. Malte Scherner was re-elected as Exco Chair, providing continuity and stable leadership. Chris Conradie and Lasni Millar will also remain on the Exco, bringing their experience and insight to the committee’s initiatives. A fresh face joined the ranks as well – Vinesh Chetty, who was warmly welcomed as the newest Exco member. Together, they represent a strong and dedicated team committed to advancing the goals of the network.

Chris Conradie took the stage during the event to share valuable insights on the benefits of benchmarking and intervention. His presentation highlighted how these strategies can drive continuous improvement and excellence within the industry, providing attendees with actionable takeaways to implement in their own practices.
PtSA Achievements
The evening was also an opportunity to celebrate some achievements. Recently, three PtSA students successfully completed the Toolmaker Qualification, a testament to the quality of training and dedication of both students and instructors. This accomplishment underscores PtSA’s commitment to nurturing skilled professionals who will contribute to the industry’s future.
Welcoming Fresh Talent
PtSA proudly introduced two new members to their team. Agetha Westphal has taken on the role of Industry Development Manager, bringing her expertise to help drive growth and innovation. Joining her is Fuaad Adams, the new Junior Lecturer, who will be instrumental in educating the next generation of toolmakers.

Skills Development: Investing in the Future
PtSA continues to prioritise skills development, with Hannes Venter currently undergoing SDF (Skills Development Facilitator) training, a critical role in ensuring the workforce is well-equipped for the future. Additionally, Andre Davies and Salvino Hendriks are actively engaged in an Assessor Course, further contributing to the industry’s commitment to high standards in education and training.
Enterprise Development: Innovation and Improvement
In the realm of enterprise development, PolyOak recently completed an intervention study, reflecting their dedication to continuous improvement and innovation within their operations.
As the event drew to a close, the mood was one of optimism and excitement. With a strong leadership team in place, fresh talent joining the ranks, and PtSA’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
