Celebrating Heritage Day at PtSA Centre of Excellence, Gauteng

On 23 September, the PtSA Centre of Excellence, Gauteng came together to celebrate Heritage Day in true South African spirit. After the workday concluded, PtSA staff and TDM Powered students embraced the occasion by dressing in their respective cultural attire. The result was a vibrant showcase of the many cultures that make up our diverse nation, with Afrikaans, Venda, Tswana, and even Zambian traditions represented.

A Taste of Heritage

To add flavour to the celebration, each group brought foods from their cultures and shared them in a communal snack table style. This created a unique opportunity for everyone to experience and enjoy dishes they may not ordinarily encounter. More than just a culinary adventure, it became a way of learning about one another’s histories, traditions, and values.

Diversity in Culture and Industry

As we honoured the rich diversity of South Africa, we were reminded of how interconnected our own industry is. Just as our country thrives on its diverse cultures, the tooling and manufacturing sector thrives on its variety of disciplines — from plastic extrusion, blow moulding, and vacuum forming to casting, forging, and metal pressing.

Tooling is the foundation of manufacturing, and these disciplines, along with the specialised skills that support them, are as vital to the economy as cultural diversity is to a healthy, inclusive society. Both are essential for building resilience, strength, and innovation.
