Position Purpose |
- To develop technical skills for the tooling manufacturing industry
- Training and development of students in subjects related with the tool, die and mould making industry
- Facilitating practical work in well-equipped workshops
- Relationship building with Industry Stakeholders
- To undertake activities and projects as directed by the Regional Manager

Core activities |
- Classroom and workshop teaching – Curriculum subjects as required
- Ensure classroom discipline
- Observe and evaluate student’s work to determine progress, provide feedback and make suggestions for improvement
- Prepare, Plan and Present lectures and conduct discussions to increase student’s knowledge and competence using applicable visual aids (handouts, videos, tools, props) and “spatial objects”.
- Administer oral, written or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness
- Responsible for audio-visual equipment used during lecturing
- Supervise and monitor student’s use of tools and equipment
- Student record keeping – prepare reports and maintain records such as attendance, training activity details and scores (attendance, scores)
- Regular communication with the Student
- Liaison Officer and broader stakeholders
- Coordinate and supervise student field trips
- Able to create enthusiasm for students’ career in manufacturing industry
- Support students and industry during the On-the-Job phase
- Visit and assess student training activities during OJT

Education Requirements |
- Relevant qualification
– Toolmaker – Machinist – Fitter & Turner – Relevant equivalent qualification – Accredited Assessor Certificate
- Engineering Technical Qualification – N4
- Teaching Qualification – Occupational
- Certificate: Occupational Trainer, NQF4

Experience Requirements |
- Relevant Industry Experience
- Occupational/Teaching Experience
- Managerial Experience
- Ability to comfortably work on all conventional machines (Lathes, milling machines, Drill press, Surface Grinder machines) all advanced machines (CNC Milling & Turning, EDM Wire and Spark, Injection mould machine and Press machine) will be an advantage
- In-depth Knowledge of moulds and dies, and ability to debug and problem solve
