Industry Development Manager

Location Western Cape & Gauteng
Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to facilitating the Implementation of the PtSA Mission by direct interface with industry to achieve Vision objectives at a regional level

Core activities
  • Establish and maintaining contact with Tool, Die, Mould and Special Machining (TDM) Industry at an executive and operational level
  • Direct support and co-ordinating support to TDM Industry
  • Effectively market the PtSA association at a regional level
  • Contract negotiations
  • Identifying companies for benchmarking
  • Sourcing and moderating OJT’s students
  • Student and company OJT training
  • Student recruitment
  • Interface between Regional TDM industry structure and PtSA management
  • Consulting at all levels within PtSA and Industry
  • To be aware of and reporting industry status/concerns
  • Direct face of the PtSA Group
  • Membership Recruitment
  • Industry and Provincial Government participation

Education Requirements
  • Relevant Marketing and Sales Qualification
  • Relevant Toolmaking Qualification/experience would be an added advantage
Experience Requirements
  • Relevant manufacturing and tooling industry experience
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
  • 5+years’ experience in sales and marketing

Lecturer

Location Parrow, Western Cape
Position Purpose
  • To develop technical skills for the tooling manufacturing industry
  • Training and development of students in subjects related with the tool, die and mould making industry
  • Facilitating practical work in well-equipped workshops
  • Relationship building with Industry Stakeholders
  • To undertake activities and projects as directed by the Regional Manager

  • Ensure all student planning is actioned according to the planning schedule
  • Attention to deadlines and milestones. Must be a results driven person
Core activities
  • Classroom and workshop teaching – Curriculum subjects as required
  • Ensure classroom discipline
  • Observe and evaluate student’s work to determine progress, provide feedback and make suggestions for improvement
  • Prepare, Plan and Present lectures and conduct discussions to increase student’s knowledge and competence using applicable visual aids (handouts, videos, tools, props) and “spatial objects”.
  • Administer oral, written or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness
  • Responsible for audio-visual equipment used during lecturing
  • Supervise and monitor student’s use of tools and equipment
  • Student record keeping – prepare reports and maintain records such as attendance, training activity details and scores (attendance, scores)
  • Regular communication with the Student
  • Liaison Officer and broader stakeholders
  • Coordinate and supervise student field trips
  • Able to create enthusiasm for students’ career in manufacturing industry
  • Support students and industry during the On-the-Job phase
  • Visit and assess student training activities during OJT
Education Requirements
  • Relevant qualification
    – Toolmaker
    – Machinist
    – Fitter & Turner
    – Relevant equivalent qualification
    – Accredited Assessor Certificate
  • Engineering Technical Qualification – N4
  • Teaching Qualification – Occupational
  • Certificate: Occupational Trainer, NQF4

  • Managerial Experience
  • Ability to comfortably work on all conventional machines (Lathes, milling machines, Drill press, Surface Grinder machines) all advanced machines (CNC Milling & Turning, EDM Wire and Spark, Injection mould machine and Press machine) will be an advantage
  • In-depth Knowledge of moulds and dies, and ability to debug and problem solve

Trade Test Moderator

Location Centurion, Gauteng
Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to ensure quality control of learning facilitation and assessment and monitor the implementation and maintenance of internal quality management systems as per the requirements of QCTO and NAMB.

  • Organising and planning skills: Well organised, systematic, time management
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Computer Aided and Computer Numerical Control Software. etc.
Core activities
  • Trade Test Moderation
  • Correctly and accurately complete all compulsory assessment documentation
  • Use given assessment instruments to conduct and record competence evaluations
  • Compile post moderation checklists
  • Prepare and complete all trade test documentation as per NAMB requirements
  • Report moderation findings to designated role-players within agreed time-frames and according to the quality assurance body’s requirements for format and content
  • Provide moderation feedback to all parties
  • Conduct trade test assessor meetings and keep minutes of meetings
  • Confirm scope of moderation with relevant parties where applicable
  • Assess and give credit for the evidence of learning that has already been acquired and could include formal, non-formal learning and work experience if / when applicable and relevant
  • Moderate trade test assessment instruments, assessment design and methodology, assessment records; assessment decisions, reporting and feedback mechanisms
  • Provide trade test equipment maintenance and support
  • Verify that all machines / tooling in the trade test centre are fully functional and operational for trade testing
Education Requirements
  • Accredited Toolmaking Qualification
  • Accredited Assessor and Moderator certification
  • Registered as an Assessor and Moderator with relevant ETQA as required by SAQA, QCTO, NAMB and the SETAs
  • NIMS credentialing (conventional and advanced) would be an advantage
Experience Requirements
  • 10+ year’s experience in practical training and industry
  • Proven minimum three (3) year’s experience in moderation in assessment
