Gauteng Network Event: Digital Transformation in Tooling

Unlocking Potential. Building Futures.

On Thursday, 25 June 2026, the PtSA Gauteng team hosted its Digital Transformation in Tooling Network Event at FNB Menlyn Place. The venue quickly filled with energy as manufacturers, technology partners and industry leaders came together to explore how digital innovation is reshaping the tooling industry. With delegates representing a broad cross-section of Gauteng’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, the morning was filled with valuable insights, engaging discussions and meaningful networking.

Generously supported by FNB, the event featured a programme that addressed both the opportunities and challenges facing the sector as digital technologies continue to transform manufacturing.

The Programme

The morning opened with a compelling macroeconomic briefing from Claudio Govender (FNB), who unpacked South Africa’s current economic landscape and highlighted the trends shaping industrial investment and competitiveness. His presentation provided valuable context for the discussions that followed.

The keynote panel discussion, Digital Transformation in Tooling, brought together leading voices from across the industry. Panellists Bryan Labuschagne (Stillam), Ryan Scott (Stillam), Chris du Preez (RGC Engineering) and Edwin Bezuidenhout (S4) shared practical insights into CNC connectivity, digital twin adoption, automation strategies and the growing role of data in modern toolrooms. Their perspectives sparked thought-provoking discussions and encouraged delegates to consider how digital technologies can drive greater productivity, precision and competitiveness.

A special acknowledgement goes to Francois Beetge, Regional Manager of PtSA Gauteng, who stepped into the role of panel moderator for the first time. His confident facilitation, thoughtful questions and steady guidance kept the conversation flowing and made for an engaging and informative discussion.

The formal programme concluded with refreshments and networking, giving attendees the opportunity to reconnect with industry peers, exchange ideas and continue the conversations sparked during the morning’s sessions.

Connections That Count

While the presentations offered valuable knowledge, the real strength of the event was found in the conversations taking place throughout the room. Bringing industry together to share ideas, build relationships and explore opportunities is at the heart of what PtSA does. From new partnerships to future collaborations, the event reflected the innovative and cooperative spirit that continues to strengthen Gauteng’s manufacturing sector.
