Non Accredited Skills Development Programmes
PtSA has developed several Non-Accredited Programmes for the Tool, Die, Mould and Special Machining Industry in South Africa to provide upskilling opportunities to enable the application of advanced technologies.
PtSA Short Duration Upskilling Programmes
Metal Cutting Technology
Metal Cutting Technology is a technical training course for all people working in the metal cutting industry. The training material has been developed by Sandvik Coromant based on the needs of production skills all over the world. The course content, however, is “Brand Neutral.” The target groups for this training are production managers, machine operators, method engineers, programmers, universities, high schools and learning institutes.

Heidenhain Q Parameter Programming Course
The Q parameter programming course is an advanced training course whereby you can program entire families of parts in a single NC program, by programming variable Q parameters instead of fixed numerical values.
Duration
1 Day at a regional PtSA Centre of Excellence
Cost
*R 2 525 (excl VAT) per attendee
Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.
Heidenhain FK Programming Course
The FK programming course is an advanced training course whereby you can program a part if the workpiece drawing is not dimensioned for NC and the grey path function keys cannot be used. All geometric values given in the drawing must be complete.
Duration
1 Day at a regional PtSA Centre of Excellence
Cost
*R 2 525 (excl VAT) per attendee
Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.

Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.
Delcam Powermill 3-Axis CAM Course
The course covers the 3-Axis functionality available in PowerMill. PowerMill can quickly create gouge-free cutter paths on imported component data. It supports Wireframe, Triangle, Surface, and Solid models created in Delcam products or from neutral formats such as IGES.
Duration
3 Full days at a regional PtSA Centre of Excellence
Cost
*R 7 575 (excl VAT) per attendee
Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.
Delcam Powermill 5-Axis CAM Course
The course covers the 5-Axis functionality available in PowerMill. PowerMill can quickly create gouge-free cutter paths on imported component data. It supports Wireframe, Triangle, Surface, and Solid models created in Delcam products or from neutral formats such as IGES. All available possibilities for 5-Axis machining will be looked at.
Duration
2 Full days at a regional PtSA Centre of Excellence
Cost
*R 5 050 (excl VAT) per attendee
Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.
Heidenhain 3+2 Axis Programming Course
The course covers the tilting functions of the Heidenhain TNC control for machines with swivel heads and/or tilting tables. Typical applications are, for example, oblique holes or contours in an oblique plane. The TNC always tilts the machining plane around the active datum and you then program the part in a reference plane. The TNC functions for tilting the working plane are coordinate transformations. The working plane is always perpendicular to the direction of the tool axis.
Duration
5 Full days at a regional PtSA Centre of Excellence
Cost
*R 12 625 (excl VAT) per attendee
Subject to group minimum size
*All required learning material and access to the relevant software during the course is included in the price.
5-Axis Milling Course
The course covers aspects related to 5-axis milling. Various attributes of the technology are covered from a very basic level up to a more advanced level with examples of each to clearly show the differences. Exercises are used to demonstrate some of the most common strategies.
